Introduction

We are currently looking for Protein Characterisation Scientist to join a leading large molecule CMO company based in the Berkshire area. This position requires the successful candidate to have GMP protein characterisation experience.

The Job

This is a laboratory based role for a scientist to become part of a growing analytical department. The main focus will be to perform a range of analytical techniques for protein characterisation and comparability studies for antibodies and other recombinant proteins manufactured by our client.

Responsibilities:

Carry out analysis for characterisation of protein products by a range of analytical techniques, to include Mass Spec, HPLC analysis (size exclusion, ion-exchange and reversed-phase), gel electrophoresis, western blotting, oligosaccharide analysis and peptide mapping as required.
Provide data, and data interpretation, for inclusion in characterisation reports.
Assume a share of laboratory management activities, including control of reagent delivery, stock checks and documentation.
Provide training and support for individuals requiring use of characterisation processes within the group and other departments
This role may provide opportunity for development to increased responsibilities within the department, including additional analytical techniques, and authorship of characterisation studies and reports.

Candidate Requirements:

Experience of working with proteins in an industrial laboratory environment to GMP is essential.
Experience of working for a contract research or manufacturing organisation.
Working knowledge of protein analysis and protein analytical technologies is essential
Work constructively within a team and across a wide range of departments.
Anticipates problems and shows initiative for problem solving and sharing solutions.
Flexibility and willing to undertake arrangement of tasks for the team.
Familiarity with MS Office and scientific software.
